Case Overview
What happened at Bonaventure Cemetery?
Established in 1846, Bonaventure Cemetery is Savannah’s most storied burial ground, where art, grief, and ghostlore overlap. The best-known spirit is Gracie Watson, a six-year-old who died in 1889; visitors leave toys and report her marble likeness smiling or changing expression. Witnesses also describe soldiers pacing the Confederate section, spectral dogs near family plots, and the sound of hymn-singing from the old caretaker’s house. The cemetery’s live oaks and weathered angels make it both a national landmark and one of Georgia’s most documented sites of recurring paranormal activity.
