Fought between 1944 and 1945, the Battle of Hürtgen Forest claimed over 30,000 lives in what soldiers called “Green Hell.” The dense woodland still hides bunkers and war relics, and visitors report phantom gunfire, soldiers’ voices, and flickering lights among the pines.
