Built in 1913, the Varnum Memorial Armory has become one of Rhode Island’s most haunted sites. Originally constructed as a training and equipment hall for the state militia, it now houses a vast collection of military artifacts — many of which are believed to carry lingering energies. Staff and visitors report phantom footsteps in empty halls, doors opening and closing by themselves, and shadowy figures in old uniforms patrolling the galleries. Paranormal investigators have captured EVPs of voices calling out and unexplained cold spots near display cases, making the Armory a favorite stop for ghost hunters in New England.
