Locals speak of shadowy figures, disembodied voices, and jinn said to wander the crumbling coral-stone houses and mosques. Its eerie atmosphere has made it a hotspot for paranormal seekers, and it has even hosted horror film shoots and ghost-hunting events. Despite redevelopment around it, the ruins remain preserved as a chilling reminder of a vanished community.
