The Bukit Timah Monkey Man is Singapore’s most famous cryptid, said to lurk in the dense jungle of the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. Descriptions tell of a small ape-like creature, 1–2 meters tall, covered in grey hair with glowing eyes. The earliest accounts date back to World War II, when Japanese soldiers claimed to have encountered it. Since then, hikers and locals have reported fleeting glimpses of a humanoid figure darting through the undergrowth or hearing strange shrieks at night.
