Constructed in 1855, the Anson Call House is a rare, enduring relic of the Mormon Pioneer era, built by one of the region’s most prolific colonizers. Its hand-hewn timber and thick masonry have stood for over 165 years, but the house is more than a structural survivor; it is a repository for the intense psychic energy of the Deseret frontier. Investigated as a site of “Domestic Residual Activity,” the home is famous for auditory anomalies specifically the rhythmic “clumping” of heavy, period-appropriate work boots on the original floorboards and the distinct sound of a manual spinning wheel in the upper chambers. Unlike many “theatrical” hauntings, the spirits here are noted for their domestic nature, appearing as fleeting, solid-looking figures in 19th-century pioneer dress who vanish when addressed, suggesting a “Time-Slip” phenomenon where the house’s 1850s past occasionally bleeds into the present.
