The most famous is “Mary,” said to be the tragic daughter of Sir Thomas Holte, who according to legend, was locked in a room for years after a forbidden romance. Visitors and staff have reported hearing weeping, footsteps, and seeing a pale apparition in period dress. The hall has featured on multiple paranormal TV shows and remains one of England’s most celebrated haunted houses.
